I believe in the
power of story
to awaken,
to challenge,
to enrich,
and to heal.

Come, sit by
my fire...

About Dawn

“Modern storytellers are the descendents of an immense and ancient community of holy people, troubadours, bards, griots, cantadoras, cantors, traveling poets, bums, hags, and crazy people.”

– Clarissa Pinkola Estes in Women Who Run With the Wolves

“We are each of us angels with only one wing, and we can only fly embracing each other."

– Luciano
De Crescenzo

Dawn Daniels is noted as a radiant artist of the spoken and sung word devoted to creating an entertaining, transformative, and empowering experience for her listeners. A seasoned actor, vocalist, director, writer, teacher and counselor – Dawn brings all of her gifts to storytelling. She has performed for audiences of all ages in venues ranging from stage to pulpit to classroom to campfire, from the East Coast to her native Midwest. Dawn’s performances are an eclectic weaving of stories and songs drawn from a wide-ranging repertoire of world folklore, literary classics, sacred works, mythology, legend, fairy tale, and original creations.

"Dawn Daniels is a phenomenal performer; to hear her tell a story is to be transported – not only to magical places, but to the inner reaches of our own fears and longings. By creating characters at once engaging and profound, she uses her expressive face and incredible voice to leave her audience simply spellbound."

– Joanne Gilbert, Ph.D.
   Professor of Communication
   Alma College

Described as a storyteller of “uncommon gifts and graces”, Dawn’s work is grounded in a devotion to the creative-relational process of story and a deep-in-the-belly belief in the capacity of storytelling to help us:
Explore, celebrate and honor our diversity
  Embrace our commonality
Deepen our ability to listen – to each other and to our own hearts
  Find our authentic voice
  Create/reclaim/deepen community
  Challenge our worldviews
  Transform our perceptions
  Rekindle our imaginative power
Heal our sense of disconnect – within ourselves and in this world
  Laugh...cry...whoop with joy!

Through story we meet ourselves again – and again – and yet again.

A Michigan native, Dawn has traveled widely across the U.S. as a performer and for a time, as a corpsman in the U.S. Navy – yes, it’s true. Her diverse roles in life have included addictions therapist, prevention educator, acting/vocal coach, choir director, freelance writer, parent and pie baker. Dawn studied literature, music, and theatre at Malone College in Canton, Ohio, and holds a B.S. degree in Psychology from Eastern Michigan University. She makes her home in Alma, MI with her two sons and two lovably deranged cats.
