The ancient story of Stone Soup in which a weary traveler helps to transform a fearful village of isolated individuals into a sharing community provides an apt metaphor for “story art”. Storytelling and theatre art (art forms on the same happy continuum) are unique and powerful in that they both require and create community. By daring to ask the villagers to imagine the possibility of soup made from a stone, the traveler is able to move them all from a mindset of scarcity to a place of sufficiency — where they realize that they do have something to contribute, and that by working together everyone is fed. Not a bad metaphor for life in this world. Stone Soup Productions is a cultural arts enterprise dedicated to the creation, presentation, and promotion of quality story art for the purpose of inspiring individual and community growth, transformation, and empowerment. |
