power of story
to awaken,
to challenge,
to enrich,

“Wherever you stand is where you hold up the sky.”

– Malaysian proverb

Lovely feedback following the “Ghost Story Theatre” performances CenterStage at the Gem in St. Louis, MI:

“When I took my children (3 and 6) to the Ghost Story Theatre performance, I knew they would be spell-bound. I never imagined that I would be as captivated as they were. It is a special storyteller who can fascinate a 3 year old, a 6 year old, and an adult with the same story.   The only one who moved during the entire performance was me; one of the stories made me jump! When we left the theater, my oldest daughter begged me to take them to hear the stories again. Months later, my youngest is still telling one of the stories she learned during the program. It was a remarkable experience for all of us.”
Laura von Wallmenich, Asst. Professor of English, Alma College

“I liked the way she put feeling into her voice and the way the stories were funny and spooky. It was easy to pay attention because it was very interesting.”
– Wren Gilbert, age 9

“Must-hear scary stories!”
– an 11 yr. old (who requested that his name not appear in print)

“Dawn Daniels’ stories and songs capture the attention of all ages and take you on a magical journey with your imagination.  It was wonderful family entertainment that left my son and I retelling stories, singing and sharing our experience for days after the performance.”
Anne Lambrecht
Director, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Gratiot & Montcalm Counties

Additional Commentary:

“Phenomenal! Truly amazing grace you are!
Radiant. . .
You uplift me, us.
You broaden me, us.
You inspire me, us.”
– Deacon Mark Springer,
Servant Church of St. Alexander, Farmington Hills, MI

“Thank you so much for enhancing our Library Summer Reading Program with you performance. Your enthusiasm and dramatic effects kept the children enraptured. Your story selections were right on target for our audience. I also enjoyed meeting you and observing your performance. One of your songs (the nonsense song with the clapping actions) was stuck in my head for days! Even now, I can still remember the motions. I know that the children will carry you with them even longer than I will.”
Jolee Kempf, Children’s Services Librarian
Wm. P. Faust Public Library of Westland

“Thank you for the dynamic program.”
– Shirley Wallace, librarian; Southgate, MI

I’ve never heard Amazing Grace sung that well; I was truly moved and inspired. I want to share with you the comment my 11-year-old son, Ian, said on the way home from church that day – ‘Mom, I think we should have clapped after that lady sang that song, ‘cause she was really good!’ I think you even touched an 11-year-old boy that day – which to me would be one of the highest forms of flattery. I thank God for you and your gifts.”
Shelly Monday, Flat Rock First United Methodist Church

“I loved your stories and I hope you come back!”
– Ty, 3rd grader; Niedermeier Elementary School

“You are the best storyteller I ever heard!”
– a parent, Romulus Library

“I would definitely go see her again.”
– Rachel Dotson, Alma College student
